I’m adding Spotify playlists to the mix, and while they will probably be pretty random, I hope they add a little something to your week! First up are a few songs in honor of my friends saying I DO in a couple of days. It should be a fun weekend with friends who haven’t gotten together in a while. These friends, the location, the season, and of course the couple have inspired this little playlist. Hope you ENJOY!

Spotify Playlists

Many of you have heard of Spotify and some of you are using it, but if you are like me you may not be fully aware of what it can do. I’ve been listening to it at work and trying to figure out what the deal is. Do I need music on my cell phone? Why would I pay for this service if there is a free option? Who is David Archuleta? I thought he was a skeezy, middle-aged, looking dude until just now when I googled it.

Spotify lets you build playlist and listen to songs using local files on your computer and countless songs in their database. You can connect the app to Facebook and twitter, share playlists or tracks with friends, listen to artist radio stations and more.

I’m helping my sister with her little backyard wedding (this weekend!!), and we are doing the music ourselves. After building several playlist in Spotify I started to worry about the lack of an internet connection, but discovered that by upgrading my Spotify account to premium ($9.95 a month) I can access my playlist from anywhere with no internet connection needed. Very Handy.
The offline mode gives me access to my playlists without having to actually purchase (or illegally download) them. I can listen to my playlists in the middle of nowhere, on an airplane, a beach or on my phone.

The next thing that occurred to me was the need for a remote control to use with my mac and Spotify. With Remoteless  I can skip songs, cue playlist and adjust the volume in Spotify from my Iphone.

If you are having a DIY wedding or hosting a party anytime soon, Spotify premium is definitely something to consider.

We’re having friends over for dinner and drinks tonight, and I’m looking forward to doing a little entertaining. I’m not quite ready to dive into the wintry fatty foods just yet, and I don’t want everyone looking for a soft place to curl up and pass out after we eat, so I’ve decided on a light main course. Grilled shrimp with an above average spinach salad. Our guests are bringing humboldt fog and red velvet cupcakes to round out the meal. Wine will flow and we plan to mix up a few cocktails as well.

It will be a night of food, booze, friends and music. If it wasn’t strange for me to ask our guests to dress up as if we were beatniks in the 60’s and pretend our home was actually an apartment in Greenwich Village, I would do it. I’d maybe even let them smoke in the house if we were all lounging around being philosophical and looking groovy.

Geoff is extra excited because he gets to show off his new custom record cabinet built by South of Urban. See more pics here.

I’ll make note of the food and cocktails being served up and share in my next post.

NYC Part 1: See and Do

Excellent trip to NYC as always.
I’m going to do this in two post. A Food and Drink and an See and Do.
Sadly I didn’t make it out to Red Hook, but I did make it to PS1 Warm Up which was amazing.
The Phenomenal Hand Clap Band played along with other Dj’s.
Each Spring they have a different artist design the courtyard. This time around it was fury cone shaped things misting on the crowd.

There were some pretty exciting things in the gallery as well.
I got super excited about the photograph of the pope. The one torn by Sinead O’connor on Saturday Night Live. I Posted a video clip in case you’ve never seen it and a clip of her at the Bob Dylan Tribute after….It’s pretty powerful (so is the eddie vedder masters of war actually…it’s all good)

Braves vs Mets at the new Citi Field.
Braves win, but Citi Field wins for having an awesome hot dog topping area and a super nice stadium.
Sunset Sailboat Cruise around the tip of Manhattan.
So nice. Beautiful view of the city and the Statue of Liberty AND you get champagne.
I love spending the day in Central Park walking, looking, and listening.
Bethesda Fountain, The model sailboat pond, and the steps of the MET…
Lovely as always. That is all.

Off to NYC

Headed to NYC until the 23rd. Have to work for the first bit, but starting Thursday will be all fun.
I have a ton of stuff planned and I hope I get to do everything on my list.
I have been to New York over a dozen times and each time there are still tons of things I want to do.
Most of the agenda revolves around food and booze….
First up is School of Seven Bells tomorrow night at Seaport Pier! FREEEEEEEE

Next week I am planning to hit Chelsea Art Museum for the Summer Soiree.
$20 bucks for a roof top party with an open bar at an art museum form 6pm-11pm…I’m there
Also a trip to Red Hook to visit the Sixpoints Brewery and hit up Red Hook Park for some Latin American food!

Vampire Weekend / Ra Ra Riot side project.
Set to release July 7th.
Sounds promising and I love this album cover. click to listen.
